Certain human behaviors can be traced back to our ape ancestors. For many species when the female is ready to mate, flesh swellings tell the male she’s fertile. A female ape’s swelling is on her rump, in direct eye-line of the male ape. Some scientists think that as we evolved to walk upright, women developed sexy swellings on their chest, so they’re still in the human male’s direct line of sight. But unlike our ape cousin’s swellings, these lady lumps are permanent. Even though we find these so desirable, we’ve evolved from our ape cousins to become masters at disguising it.
