This song should’ve been included in the greatest songs of all time because Hall’s voice in this song was immaculate! It can instantly get you in a good mood with just the first few lines. It’s the first song of the duo to grab the top spot in the US Billboard Hot 100 charts. It’s definitely one of the best Hall and Oates songs.

It best represents the rock and soul fusion that is famous of Hall & Oates. The song was produced by musical genius David Foster. It was included on the last album they released in the 70s names X-Static.

The vocal tandem of Hall & Oates were really showcased in this song. The way they did the split vocals together with the stripped down song arrangement just works! It may not be a chart-topping hit compared to the others but it’s a song that’s full of emotions. Without a doubt, it deserves a spot on the best Hall and Oates songs.

Rhyming lyrics, repeated lines and a catchy melody made this song a classic pop favorite in the 80s. It also reached the top spot on the US Billboard Hot 100 in 1980 making it the second Top 1 hit for the duo. It’s so infectious; you’ll find yourself singing this song over and over in your head.

9. Private Eyes

It has the same vibe as their other hit “Kiss On My List”. It also made it to the top spot making it the third chart topper for Hall and Oates. A concert favorite, it allowed the audience to participate in their live performances, during the clapping part of the chorus.

10. Out Of Touch

This is on my list not just because it’s a chart topper but because it has a freakin’ awesome and quirky music video. The over-sized drum set and the carefree vibe sold me!

I still think nothing beats the 70s and 80s classics. While the current music scene is filled with overly edited voices produced by revenue-driven labels, it’s comforting to know that I can go back in time, through the best Hall and Oates songs, and the world is good and genuine and fine again.
